9 Best Drinks to Relieve Cold and Cough in Winters

Let’s discuss a little about Cough and Cold. It’s the natural response of our body to clear foreign material or mucus from the respiratory tract and it can also be caused by food. Cough can be both acute or chronic which can last for more than eight weeks. The cause for cold and cough can be a bacterial or viral infection along with other reasons like smoking, asthma, or allergic reaction.

Cough can be of Two Types

This depends on the underlying cause but the most common type of cough is Dry cough with no presence of mucus and Wet cough where mucus is present in the throat where you have to hawk out the mucus.

Ginger Tea

It is one of the best remedies which contains an anti-inflammatory property which helps in soothing sore throat and dry cough. Boil ginger in one cup of water and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes then add one spoon of honey and drink it throughout the day. It’s beneficial for both cold and cough. It is also very effective in relaxing the muscles and opening the airways.

Turmeric Milk

One of the herbs which are used in Ayurvedic medicine and have lots of benefits and it contains curcumin which has anti-bacterial as well as antiviral property making it useful in all kinds of infection. Turmeric helps you in building the immunity stronger and helping to get rid of dry as well as wet cough. You can also add black pepper which will help in speedy recovery.

Chamomile Tea
